Prof. Kurt April announced as the Winner of the Black Management Forum's 'Thought Leader of the Year 2017' Category at the 2017-2018 Black Excellence Awards Gala Dinner.

Prof. April appointed as of the 1st September 2017 to an endowed Professorship, the Allan Gray Chair, to head up the Allan Gray Centre for Values-Based Leadership at the University of Cape Town's Graduate School of Business (GSB).

Novartis International (Basel, Switzerland) renews Prof. April's contract (for 2 more years) as Chairperson of the International Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council (DIAC), based out of its head-office in Basel, Switzerland. Kurt has been Chairperson of the Council since 2010, and been a Member of the Council since April 2006.

Kurt April takes up a shareholding in the Achievement Awards Group (South Africa), as well as Executive Directorship of the company, focused mainly on "Human Performance Solutions". Kurt has been a Non-Executive Director of the company from December 2007 to February 2017.

Prof. Kurt April had his Associate Fellowship renewed, by the Academic Review Committee, for another year at Saïd Business School (University of Oxford, UK). Kurt has consistently been lecturing Leadership, Diversity & Inclusion every year (Executive Programmes, EMBA & MBA) at the University of Oxford since 2001.

Prof. April serves as a Committee Member of international judges in determining the 2015 International Human Resource Management Scholarly Research Award for the Human Resources Division of the Academy of Management in the USA.

Prof. April has taken over the Chairmanship of the international Diversity & Inclusion Advisory Council (DIAC) as of October 2010, of which he has been a member, since inception in 2006, at Novartis head-office in Basel, Switzerland. In 2006, the healthcare multinational giant, Novartis, established this external Advisory Council with internationally renowned experts from academia, business and non-governmental organisations, and meets twice a year to advise the company of all aspects of diversity & inclusion.

On the 2nd February 2010, a business consortium (which includes Prof. Kurt April) took ownership of the Helderview BMW dealership in Somerset West/Strand (Cape Town, SA).
August 2009
Prof. April was invited to, and accepted the invitation to, join the Global Agenda Council on Talent & Diversity of the World Economic Forum (Geneva, Switzerland). Subsequently Prof. April has played a role in compiling a White Paper on 'Recommendations for Creating and Managing Inclusive Workforces' (published in December 2009), and downloadable in the articles section of this website.

Prof. April of the UCT Graduate School of Business has just added another award to his growing list of accolades - having this June been recognised as one of the world's 'Top 100 Educators' for 2009 by the International Biographical Centre in Cambridge, UK (read full article).
