He is our Space
First there was effort
Then conversation
Oh how we talked – of us, of them, of life
of the things that matter, of things that last
Then a kiss, and communion
We shared our dreams, we shared our hopes
And we compromised
We also learnt to shape the compromise
We planned our outcomes, we struggled
But we had each other
Then we gave one another support
Us against the world
We were determined, young, energetic
And revelling in each step towards our goals
We stood up for each other
We spoke proudly of one another
We defended each other’s choices and viewpoints
We grew, each of us
We drew others to us, because we were always generous
Of spirit, of time, and our personal resources
Remembering and reminding each other
In our quiet moments, of our core
Our lines in the sand
Then we let go
Of whom we were
In order to become us
We had to forego things, people
In letting go, we created a new and different space for ourselves
Our space, a place where words and talk were not needed
A place where others were not welcome
Our place
A glance, an eye movement, an expression
These became powerful, these mattered
We put our intention into the Universe
Because we were one
Waves of potential co-existing before
Now, co-creating
Then came completeness
Him
He completed us
A product of our conversation, compromises, dreams, energy, support, pride, spirit
A product of our choice
He holds the space
He is that space
We never want to go back
And we can never go back
