You cherish the notion that you’re in control
   However
   Underlying all action, all thought
   Is your shadow, your unconscious
So often out-of-awareness, but so influential

You need to embrace it, to navigate the paradoxical nature of life

Make sense of grandiose others in your inner theatre
Make sense of your childish helplessness in your inner theatre

Use your imagination, use your muse of fire
Use your imagination to overcome frustration
Draw on your good internal objects, your moral centre

   But you refuse the call
   The call of disciplined attention
You find excuses not to engage in the necessary personal work
   The emotionally painful personal work

Slow and silent illumination is what is needed
It cannot be hurried, it will not be hurried
Assisted self discovery is what you need to seek out
Historical moment and personality are your gifts
   They are your transformational tools

   Now is your time

You need to act from an intent of who you could be
   Whom others could be
Not from who you, and others, currently are

But you need to be different with yourself
And only you will know what that difference is
When you courageously drop into the shadow
